(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County detachment along with Haldimand County Emergency Services (EMS) responded to a pedestrian verses car collision at a Caithness Street, Caledonia, Haldimand County, ON address.
On Friday September 6th, 2013 at approximately 8:20 pm 73 year old Alice MCARDLE of Haldimand County, ON was crossing Caithness St. at Banff St. taking her dog for a walk when she was struck by an eastbound blue 2005 Chev SUV. The SUV was being operated by a 23 year old Laurissa BURGESS of Haldimand County, ON female.
As a result of the collision the 73 year old female pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the attending Coroner.
The dog sustained serious injuries and died a short time later at the Caledonia Veterinarian office.
The 23 year old female driver was not physically injured during the collision.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.
Caithness St. was closed to through traffic for several hours to allow for investigation.
