(St. Joseph’s Island, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP have been advised that the area of St Joseph’s Island is currently suffering a phone line issue where the 911 emergency contact system, local and long distance calls are not available to the St Joseph Island residents via landline.
St Joseph Island residents are advised that cell coverage is still working and calls to police can be made by cellular phone to 1 888-310-1122 for non-emergent situations and 911 for all other emergencies requiring police, ambulance or fire.
Persons requiring medical assistance that is non-emergent can attend or call Matthews Memorial Hospital in Richards Landing Ontario at 705-246-2570.
Phone repair crews are currently working to rectify the issue.
