(Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist at a collision this morning just before 1:30am on Highway 7 near the 11th Line of Belmont.
An eastbound tractor trailer left the roadway and entered the south ditch.
Michael MURRAY (age 56) of Etobicoke, ON was the driver and died at the scene. A post mortem examination will be conducted, later today or tomorrow, to determine a cause of his death.
Highway 7 was closed for an extended time as cleanup crews removed the tractor trailer unit from a swampy area. The highway was opened in both directions just before noon today.
