(CALEDON, ON) – On September 2nd, 2014 at noon, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Caledon Emergency Services personnel responded to a head-on collision on Highway 10 north of The Grange Side Road. The initial investigation has revealed that a vehicle was travelling northbound and a gravel hauler was travelling southbound. For some unknown reason at this time, the vehicle crossed over the centre line colliding with the gravel hauler.
Police are confirming that the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. His identity will be released once notification of next of kin has been completed. The driver of the gravel hauler was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Highway 10 between Olde Baseline Road and Charleston Sideroad remains closed while OPP Technical Traffic Investigators are on the scene of the motor vehicle collision.
The OPP are requesting motorists and commuters plan alternate routes while the motor vehicle is being investigated.
