Fatal Collision – Child Succumbs to Injuries

(Mono, ON)- On June 24th at approximately 3:40 pm, the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 89, east of King’s Highway 10 near the 1st Line EHS in the Town of Mono.

Dufferin EMS and Shelburne Fire Department also responded. The preliminary investigation reveals two vehicles collided head on and two involved people were found deceased at the scene. One person has been taken to local hospital with life threatening injuries. The OPP have their Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) enroute to the scene to further investigate this collision.

Highway 89 between 1st Line EHS and Highway 10 will be closed for several hours.

**UPDATE: Dufferin OPP are advising that child taken to hospital by ambulance succumbed to his injuries and has died. The vehicles involved were a 2012 Honda Accord and (not an SUV as earlier reported) and a 2000 International dump truck.

Dufferin OPP are now identifying the following family members who died in this fatal collision. The driver of the Honda Accord Tina Andersen (43) and her sons Benjamin Parkinson (3) and Gunner Parkinson (6) all of Orangeville,Ontario were passengers in the vehicle and succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of the dump truck was transported to hospital in shock but has since been released. Dufferin OPP are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to call police at 1-888-310-1122.
