(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On May 26, 2016 at approximately 10:40 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar speed enforcement and monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 7 in Centre Wellington Township. The officer observed a female driving a 2005 Ford Freestar at a speed well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 138 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
Her driver’s licence and motor vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.
21-year-old Emily BURTON of Mapleton Township has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. She is to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 6, 2016 to answer to the charge.
