Elmer ELLERBY – Race Motor Vehicle

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On October 24, 2016 at approximately 12:09 p.m., a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Hwy 69 in Wallbridge Township. The officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was conducted.

The driver of the motor vehicle, Elmer ELLERBY, 61 years of age from Erin, Ontario was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

He will appear before the Parry Sound Provincial Offences Court on November 22, 2016, to answer to his charge.

Every person convicted of Race a Motor Vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both. Additionally, any person charged with Race a Motor Vehicle will have their vehicle towed and impounded for 7 days and their driver’s licence will be suspended for 7 days.
