(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Tuesday April 22, 2014, shortly after 6 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer patrolled Road 130 between Rostock and Brunner when a suspicious male was observed on a rural property. The officer drove onto the property and observed the male jump onto a 6 wheeled ATV and sped off in a high rate of speed. The ATV proceeded in a southerly direction across numerous fields. The officer kept the ATV in sight as its driver attempted to evade detection. The ATV continued south bound for approximately 13 km. The operator refused to stop for police on numerous occasions and under cover of fog evaded police in a cultivated field south east of Sebringville.
The male operator abandoned the ATV and proceeded on foot into Sebringville. OPP officers with the assistance of the OPP canine unit searched the area in and around Sebringville but were unable to locate the male.
The 6 wheeled green 2011 Polaris Ranger ATV was determined to have been stolen from a residence in the Blyth area sometime between 11 p.m. on Monday April 21, 2014 and 5 a.m. Tuesday April 22, 2014.
