(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On Thursday, October 16, 2014, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a male for operating an e-Bike while impaired in the Municipality of Meaford.
Police had received numerous complaints about an intoxicated male driving an e-bike within the community of Meaford. The male was identified and had been warned by police.
At approximately 12:36 p.m. on October 16th, police stopped the suspect after observing the e-bike being driven erratically on Sykes Street in Meaford. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. Further investigation revealed that he was prohibited from driving.
John EARL, age 62, of Meaford, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol and driving while disqualified.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
The e-bike was impounded for seven days.
