(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Sunday December 11, 2016, at around 2 a.m., members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of an intoxicated male operating a backhoe on Line 49 in the Township of Perth East.
Perth County OPP members located the yellow backhoe and stopped the driver. The officer noted irregularities with the driving of the backhoe while he was following it and while speaking to the driver detected odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.
The driver was placed under arrest for operating motor vehicle while impaired. He was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville for breath tests. He later provided samples of his breath into an Intoxilizer and registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 28-year-old Tyler NUTT from Perth East has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 23, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford. He also received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the backhoe was seized for 7 days.
