On Sunday May 15 th , 2016 just before 3:00 a.m. a 2008 Chrysler Sebring was observed by an officer going through a red traffic light at the corner of 9 th Street and 2 nd Avenue East, Owen Sound.
The vehicle was successfully stopped by the officer a short distance away. The lone female driver was investigated and found to be under the influence of alcohol. Tests were completed which resulted in her blood alcohol level being in an excess of the legal limit of 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The 29 year old Owen Sound driver was charged criminally with operating a motor vehicle with in excess of the legal limit alcohol in her blood. She will appear on June 2 nd in the Owen Sound Court to answer to the charge. Her vehicle has been impounded for 7 days and her driver’s licence initially been suspended for 90 days.
This was the 2 nd arrest made by the Owen Sound Police within 6hrs of drivers operating their vehicle on city streets with a blood alcohol level greater than the legal limit. Fortunately, in both situations these drivers were taken off the roadway before anyone was injured.
