North Huron council will be considering spending $28,147.08 on “replacement” equipment for the gym at the complex at the 16May2016 meeting. The reality is taxpayers will be forced to pay for this unneeded equipment, and they will also be forced to pay if they want to use it at the complex.
According to the agenda package the equipment is still working, and town staff just want new prettier equipment. The old will equipment will be sent to the landfill if town staffers and others don’t want to buy it in a secret/silent auction.
Remember they close the pool during the hot summer weekends, and are considering closing the Wingham ice surface every other year under the pretence of austerity.
NOTE: Council had to beg the Trillium fund for $30,000 for a fire suppression system for town hall, and that was after years of Public outrage and a petition.They even tried to force the Public to fundraise for this CRITICAL part of our infrastructure! There is currently a 100% chance this expense will be rubber stamped at the 16May2016 council meeting.
