(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On April 11, 2016, at approximately 5:27 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision.
A blue Pontiac car was travelling northbound on Adelaide Street, north near Ilderton Road, when it left the roadway and rolled several times. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency services.
Officers determined the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”. The driver was placed under arrest, and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Breath testing was conducted, and revealed the driver had consumed more than twice the legal limit of alcohol.
As a result of the police investigation, 40-year-old John MALIZIA, from Middlesex Centre, Ontario, has been charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, and driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court.
