On Thursday, April 21st, 2016 shortly after 1:00 a.m. Owen Sound Police Service officers were dispatched to a west side apartment building following complaints of a shouting man armed with a knife. Complainants observed the armed man in the building parking lot damaging a car, throwing knives, and brandishing a long stick.
Uniform bureau officers arrived moments later, locating the armed suspect. Compliant to police direction, the male was safely disarmed and arrested without incident or injury. Paramedics and police transported the 39-year old Owen Sound resident, who appeared to be in crisis, to hospital.
During the disturbance tires were slashed on 2 random automobiles, and 8 kitchen knives were located nearby and seized. Police have validated that this isolated incident, which thankfully came to a safe outcome, was restricted to a small portion of the parking lot. No other persons were present or involved. No persons were specifically targeted.
