Drugs Seized At RIDE

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On April 10, 2015 at approximately 10:25 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. checks at Wellington Road 124 at the Sixth Line in the Town of Erin.

Officers investigated the occupants of a 2012 Ford that entered into the checkpoint. Police immediately detected the odour of fresh marihuana emanating from the vehicle and when questioned, a male passenger surrendered a small quantity of suspected marihuana to the officer.

Further investigation revealed that the male was bound by a Probation Order with a condition to abstain completely from the possession, purchase and consumption of any drugs controlled or prohibited by law.

Simon SHARPE age 24 of Bolton has been charged with Possession of a Marihuana Under 30 Grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on May 22, 2015 to answer to the charges.
