(TYENDINAGA, ON) – On October 26, 2013, the Tyendinaga Police Service assisted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau-Drug Enforcement Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on York Road.
The search was as a result of a joint investigation of alleged cannabis marihuana production and trafficking, led by the Tyendinaga Police Service and assisted by the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau-Drug Enforcement Unit.
As a result of the search warrant, police seized cannabis marihuana plants and property related to its production, cannabis marihuana, cannabis marihuana resin and property related to its production, cocaine, oxycontin, hydromorphone and trafficking paraphernalia. Police also seized several firearms, including a prohibited handgun and high-capacity magazine, body armour and ammunition.
Three people have been charged and released on a Promise to Appear and Undertaking before an Officer in Charge to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville, on January 7, 2014. One adult male was held for a bail hearing.
