(ALFRED-PLANTAGENET, ON) – On May 18th, 2016, members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) – Community Drug Action Team (CDAT), assisted by the East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) Search Warrant in the Alfred-Plantagenet Township, resulting in the seizure of cannabis marihuana, cannabis marihuana clones, and one firearm with ammunitions.
A substantial amount of electricity was also stolen from Hydro One.
Karam JOMMA (30 yrs) and Veronique BEDARD (27 yrs) of Alfred-Plantagenet were arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following sections:
– 4(1) Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams
– 7(1) Produce a Schedule II substance – (cannabis marihuana)
They were both also charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following offences:
– 326(1)(a) Theft of Electricity or Gas – Over $5000
– 86(1) Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
Both accused have appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on June 29th, pending their next court date scheduled on July 20th, 2016.
Tony JOMMA (65 yrs) of Clarence-Rockland was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following offence:
– 326(1)(a) Theft of Electricity or Gas – Over $5000
He has appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on June 29th, pending his next court date scheduled on July 13th, 2016.
