Drug Arrests

(CALEDON, ON) – On April 6, 2015, the Ontario Provincial Police Communications Centre received several calls from concerned citizens regarding a possible impaired driver on Regional Road 50. Citizens reported that the driver was operating his vehicle in an erratic manner and had been observed crossing over into oncoming traffic. Officers attended the area and located the vehicle, a black Toyota Corolla, on Regional Road 50 north of Adjala Township. Officers conducted a vehicle stop and spoke with the male driver and male passenger. The officers immediately noted that the driver displayed many signs of impairment by drug and he was arrested. A search of the vehicle uncovered a large sum of money and drugs, believed to be heroin and marihuana belonging to both the driver and the passenger.

As a result of the traffic stop, Giang TRAN, 29, from Toronto was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule I substance, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Driving while Ability Impaired and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Souliphanh PHONGSAVATH, 29, from Brampton was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Substance and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The males were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 4th, 2015.
