(CALEDON, ON) – On August 10th, 2014 at approximately 11 pm, a concerned citizen contacted the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report a possible impaired driver on Highway 10 southbound from King Street. Officers attended the area and located the vehicle, a white Infinity, southbound 410 at Mayfield Road. The officer initiated a traffic stop to check on the driver’s sobriety.
Upon speaking with the driver, the officer immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Subsequently, the driver was demanded to produce a sample of his breath into an approved screening device. The driver refused the request and after several failed attempts, he was arrested.
As a result of the traffic stop, Chander Mohan DHALIWAL, 28, from Brampton was arrested and charged with Refuse to Provide Breath Sample.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on August 28, 2014.
