(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers were conducting an R.I.D.E. check at Brant Garden Avenue and Johnson Road, in the County of Brant.
At approximately 11:35 p.m. October 22nd, 2014, officers ask the driver of a Silver Acura to pull over for a traffic violation. The driver proceeded to pull over and then sped away before officer could talk to him. The officers got in their vehicles and went south on Garden Avenue looking for the vehicle that fled. Officers came across the Acura which was in the ditch after colliding with a tractor trailer on Garden Avenue. Both occupants of the vehicle had fled the area on foot but were apprehended by the West Region OPP Canine Team with the assistance of the Brantford City Police Service.
Wesley SANTOS 21 years of age from the City of Cambridge is facing the following criminal charges
Drive while Disqualified
Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently being held in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
