(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Friday, August 15, 2014 at approximately 9:30 p.m., a Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol observed a vehicle travelling west bound on Grey Rd. 4 pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
The cruiser’s radar registered the oncoming vehicle’s speed at 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
Matthew James LEWIS, 20, of Brockton, Ontario was issued a Summons for Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed under the Highway Traffic Act and Fail to Surrender Insurance Card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. His driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Monday, August 25, 2014.
