DRIVER CHARGED IN TWO VEHICLE COLLISION

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On August 8, 2014, just after 9:30 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 401 eastbound, near Charing Cross Road.

The collision occurred when an Infinity SUV, carrying two females, one male and a dog, was traveling eastbound in the right lane. The SUV moved into the left lane and struck a Toyota Solara, carrying two males, which was traveling eastbound beside it. The collision caused the SUV to flip over. Both vehicles came to rest in the centre median.

The female driver of the SUV, a 75 year old from Windsor, has been charged with Change Lane Not In Safety, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Both left lanes of the westbound and eastbound lanes were closed approximately 200 metres in each direction for a short time while Emergency crews attended at the scene.

Minor injuries were reported and the parties were released at scene. No injuries were reported on the dog.
