(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A local male has been charged with two Highway Traffic Act related offences after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted by a motorist.
On January 16, 2014 a motorist who had observed a vehicle go through a stop sign and then noted the vehicle enter a nearby driveway contacted the OPP. Upon arrival on scene the OPP officer initiated an investigation and determined that the suspect vehicle had been north bound on Killarney Bay Road at a high rate of speed when it went through the stop sign at Glenarm Road.
The witness vehicle had been travelling east bound on Glenarm Road but was slowing at the intersection such that no collision occurred.
As a result of the investigation, the vehicle driver Simon AMTING, 19 years of age, of Woodville, was charged with failing to stop for a stop sign and careless driving.
