DRIVER CHARGED

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A vehicle stop recently conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in numerous charges being laid and the potential for more charges to follow.

On January 24, 2014 an OPP officer observed a vehicle being operated with improper licence plates in the Fenelon Falls area and subsequently stopped the vehicle. Investigation indicated that the plate was not registered to the vehicle to which it was attached nor was the validation sticker registered to the plate.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was suspended from driving and that the vehicle was not insured. The investigation is ongoing and may result in criminal charges being laid.

Robert GONZALES, 57 years of age, of Fenelon Falls is currently charged with driving while under suspension, plates not authorized for vehicle, failing to apply for permit upon becoming owner and operating a vehicle without insurance.

The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on April 1, 2014.
