MALE CHARGED WITH SEVERAL OFFENCES
(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Friday the 01st of November 2013, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a stolen vehicle from Sherbourne Street North in the Town of Bancroft. Investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Malibu had been stolen from the area.
On Saturday the 02nd of November the Bancroft OPP received the report of a two break and enters in the Paudash area. Investigation revealed that a shed was entered on Paudash Lake Road in Faraday Township and a garage was entered on Paudash School Road in Faraday Township. Gas was reported stolen at both these locations.
The stolen vehicle was later found in a collision on Highway 62 in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands, the driver had fled the scene. The Bancroft OPP with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team searched the area for the suspect. The suspect was not located.
Investigation revealed the same suspect to be associated with the break and enters and stolen vehicle. 22 year old Drayton PACKARD of Faraday Township was apprehended has been charged with the following:
Theft Over
Possession of Stolen Property (2 counts)
Break and Enter (2 counts)
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Fail to Stop at the Scene of a Collision
Careless Driving
Fail to Remain at a Collision
Class G1 Licence Holder, Unaccompanied by a Qualified Driver
Mr. PACKARD was released from custody at a bail hearing with conditions. He is scheduled to appear on the 19th of November 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft, Ontario.
