(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment has charged a 31-year-old male after police received complaints from a citizen about door-to-door sales at a Sunset Drive, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at approximately 1:43 p.m., a homeowner contacted police after two males arrived at their residence.
Through investigation it was determined that the males arrived at the residence and informed the homeowner that they were in the area selling water filters. Both males were very aggressive in their sales pitch at which time they were informed to leave. The homeowner then observed them attending other homes in the area at which time police were contacted.
Police attended the address and located two males that were working in the area representing a company from Toronto, Ontario. The manager representing the salesman and company was then requested to attend the area in order to speak to police. It was determined that no peddlers licence was obtained prior to going door-to door.
As a result, police charged 31-year-old Norbertas SINICA of Toronto, Ontario with peddle goods/services without a licence contrary to the Norfolk County By-Law 2013-19.
Police are urging all homeowners to be very skeptical when someone arrives at your door inquiring about any personal information about your or your residence.
