Many of you are aware of the horrid condition our North Huron
facilities are in. Recently it was disclosed that the belfry
was missing a large section of membrane, allowing water to penetrate
and rot out our Town Hall. Facility neglect has cost the
taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars, and was a contributing
factor to the closure of the Heritage Theater. Many insurance
policies cover damage from water infiltration, provided it doesn’t
come from open windows or doors. Typically if your roof is
damaged in a storm, insurance covers the roof and anything that was
damaged by water infiltration. The Belfry roof damage is
clearly consistent with wind damage.
