DISIK – Drunk Driving

(HALIBURTON, ON) – On May 2, 2016, officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check at Bobcaygeon Road and IGA Road in Minden Hills Township.

At approximately 11:17p.m., officers stopped a motor vehicle being driven by a 73 year-old male and determined the male had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Haliburton Highlands OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result of police investigation, Victor DISIK of Minden has been charged with

Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80mgs of Alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC).

The vehicle was towed and impounded for a period of seven days and his drivers’ licence was suspended for 90 days as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on June 1, 2016.
