(PORT HOPE, ON) – Northumberland OPP is asking that motorists exiting on Highway 401 eastbound at Wesleyville Road (exit 456) to please follow the Emergency Detour Routes (EDR) NORTHBOUND ONLY off Wesleyville Road, East Townline and Newtonville Roads. Please refrain from using southbound routes as traffic is jammed along Lakeshore Road, particularly at Lakeshore and Willowbeach Roads. Emergency crews from Port Hope will be erecting barricades advising motorist to go north.
A tractor trailer that was travelling east on Lakeshore as a result of the Wesleyville Road / Highway 401 detour was unable to go under a bridge and has jack-knifed as a result of attempting to turn around and just off the road is causing congestion. There is no other property damage or personal injury. OPP are on scene to assist with removal of the tractor from the ditch.
