Designated Driver Lets Down Bride and Groom

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) Early Sunday morning on July 28, 2013, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) program at the intersection of Wallace Ave North and McDonald St West in Listowel. At 2:14 a.m. an Audi SUV was stopped by the officers and the odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected on the driver’s breath.

The driver who was supposed to be the designated driver” for a bride and groom was administered a roadside breath test which registered a blood alcohol concentration reading from .05 to .08. The 48 year old male’s driver’s licence was seized and has been suspended for 3 days. The groom’s sober father attended and was able to remove the vehicle.”
