Deceased Identified In Off-Ramp Collision – Katherine SCHMIDT

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a single vehicle collision that occurred on the 401 Highway eastbound off-ramp to Wellington Road on January 4, 2017.

A passenger in the vehicle was rushed to a London Hospital where she succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. OPP have identified the victim as 51-year-old Katherine SCHMIDT from London Ontario.

The driver, of the vehicle 56-year-old James SCHMIDT from London Ontario remains in critical condition in a London hospital.

The Wellington road exit ramp was closed for several hours yesterday while members of the OPP Technical Collision Investigation Unit remained on scene. The investigation is continuing.

The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently at the scene of a fatal vehicle collision on the 401 E/B off ramp to Wellington Road. Police received the call that a vehicle had gone into the ditch around 12:20pm today.

The ramp will remain closed as the OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigators process the scene in order to determine the cause of the collision.

Two people were transported to hospital in critical condition. One female party has been pronounced deceased and another male party is still in critical condition at this time.
