(Ottawa, ON) – September 16, 2015, at approximately 6:57 pm, an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Ottawa Detachment observed a motorist using a hand-held communication device while travelling on Highway 417 westbound near the Moodie Drive overpass.
As a result of the investigation, the male driver, 32 year old David Antonio LOPEZ JOVEL of Ottawa, is charged with:
Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code; and
Drive motor vehicle on a highway while using a hand-held wireless communication device contrary to section 78.1(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Ottawa on November 4, 2015.
