(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is again reminding residents to be wary of unsolicited phone calls following scam reports in the detachment area. Reports from Municipality of Kincardine residents report a computer pop-up message “RCMP is investigating your IP address for child pornography. Pay $150 and the investigation will stopâ€Â. Municipality of Brockton residents have reported the computer repair scam where the “technician†calls to advise your computer has an issue they can “fix†remotely for a fee.
Fraud continues to be a multi-billion dollar per year money maker. The scams will continue as long as the scammers continue to make money. Always verify an unsolicited contact; unsolicited means that you didn’t ask for it. You work hard to earn your money so work hard to protect it.
