(Cavan-Monaghan Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to a single vehicle collision on Lansdowne Street West Saturday just after 1:30pm.
An eastbound vehicle lost control and entered the ditch. The vehicle then struck an exposed natural gas line. The collision ruptured the line causing a leak. Residents closest to the leak chose to evacuate their homes until the line was capped by Enbridge workers.
The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. The roadway was reopened to traffic just before 3:30pm.
