Collision Results In Impaired Charge For Igor SOKHAN

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On October 26, 2016 at 11:00 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), McDougall Fire Department and Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Pinewood Road in the Township of McDougall.

OPP investigation revealed that a motor vehicle was travelling on Pinewood Road near Cornflower Road. Upon police arriving at the scene, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and subsequently damaged a police vehicle.

As a result of the officer’s investigation, Igor SOKHAN, 59 years of age from Etobicoke was charged with:

Impaired Operation, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Fail or Refuse to Provide Breath Sample, contrary to section 254(5) of the CC

Mischief Under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on November 17, 2016 to answer to his charges.

The OPP are reminding motorists that by failing or refusing to provide a breath sample, or perform a physical co-ordination test, your driver’s licence will be subject to an immediate 90 day suspension and an immediate 7 day vehicle impoundment.

There is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
