(NAPANEE, ON)- An officer with the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police seized a large quantity of cocaine and cash following a traffic stop on Hwy 401 westbound near Belleville last night.
Police seized 608 grams of Cocaine with an estimated street value of over $60,000 and approximately $20,000 in Canadian currency.
The driver of the vehicle, 39 year-old Darren RENAUD of Ottawa was arrested at the scene for obstructing police by falsely identifying himself.
RENAUD was subsequently charged with Obstruct Police, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime X 2, Driving while Suspended, and Possess False Identity Document.
Renaud appeared in Provincial Court in Napanee today and was remanded into custody for a continuation of his bail hearing on Tuesday, April 22 at 2 p.m. in Napanee.
