(NORTH HURON, ON) – A prohibited driver will have to make a court appearance following a collision he had with a hydro pole. Just after 10:00 p.m. on December 13, 2013 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to the scene of a fail to remain motor vehicle collision in the village of Blyth. Officers learned a white Ford Edge was speeding northbound on Morris Street when the driver tried to brake for a stop sign at Dinsley Street. The driver lost control and slid into a hydro pole, snapping the pole.
The driver turned around and left the scene of the collision. Officers spoke with witnesses and were able to quickly locate the driver at his residence.
Huron OPP has charged Christopher WILLFONG, 33, from Central Huron with Drive While Disqualified. He has a court appearance scheduled for February 20, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham. His motor vehicle will be impounded for 45 days.
