DRIVING NEARLY DOUBLE THE SPEED LIMIT ON SNOW COVERED ROADS
(NORTH HURON, ON) – A 21 year old driver is facing a court date and a seven day driver’s licence suspension after he was stopped for racing on Donnybrook Line on December 13, 2013. At approximately 2:44 p.m. a Chevrolet Monte Carlo was observed racing on Donnybrook Line near Zion Road. A radar device was used to measure the driver’s speed and it confirmed the vehicle’s speed at a high of 178 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. Officers were able to stop the speeding vehicle and the driver was charged.
Driving at that speed is dangerous at the best of times let alone when the roadway is covered with snow and slush as they were that afternoon.
Brandon HOWALD, 21, from Lucknow was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle. He has a court appearance scheduled for January 21, 2014 at Provincial Offences Court in Goderich to answer to the charge. His driver’s licence has been seized for seven days and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
