(BRANT TWP, ON) – On December 13, 2013 at 11:22 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 9 and Side road 5 in Brant Township. Officers arrived to find that a White GMC C55 was south bound on Side road 5 and continued through the stop sign into the path of a Silver Honda Accord that was eastbound on Highway 9.
The driver of the Accord, 79 year old Ruth Schnurr of Carrick Township, was transported to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the GMC, 43 year old Michael CRAWLEY of Hamilton, was charged with Disobey stop sign – fail to stop and Drive commercial vehicle – no licence.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation unit members are assisting the South Bruce OPP with this investigation.
