Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – October 6, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 110 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested in that time.

Man Arrested on Warrants

The Chatham-Kent Police arrested a male in regards to outstanding warrants. On October 5, 2015, at approximately 10:00 am, a 24 year old Chatham man was arrested on Harvey St. on outstanding warrants. During the arrest, the arresting Officer, on searching the male, found the male to be in possession of methamphetamine. As a result, the male was charged with an additional charge of possessing a controlled substance and since he was on a probation order prohibiting him from possessing such substances, was charged with a further count of breaching his probation. The male was later transported to court for a bail hearing.

Break and Enter in Chatham

Sometime between September 20 and October 2, someone entered a north Chatham home through an unlocked kitchen window and stole jewelry, electronics and a small safe. The safe is described as being a gray, 12 inch by 12 inch, key locked safe. It was empty at the time.

Stolen Vehicle

The Chatham-Kent police are looking for the public’s assistance in locating a stolen vehicle from the Chatham area.

On October 5, 2015, a gray, 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, bearing Ontario licence plate BPSB 022, was reported stolen from a north Chatham Parking lot.

Traffic Stop leading to Arrest

On October 6, just past midnight, an Officer with the Chatham-Kent Police Service stopped a vehicle on Queen St. in Chatham for Highway Traffic Act related offences. During the traffic stop, the 34 year old Raleigh Township male was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant and at the time, breaching a curfew restriction on a current release order as well as being in the company of a person he was prohibited from associating with. As a result, the male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with 2 counts of Breaching his Recognizance under the Criminal Code and 1 count of Driving while under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act. The male was lodged in a cell and held while awaiting a bail hearing.
