On July 4, 2015 at 8:54 p.m., Guelph Police received the report that a male entered the Sears store located at 435 Stone Road West, just prior to the store closing. This male was armed with a knife and was wearing a disguise when he entered the store. The male threatened the store clerk with bodily harm if the clerk did not comply with demands for money. The male then fled the store.
Guelph Police responded and members of Investigative Services continued this investigation. On October 5, 2015, the responsible male was arrested.
The 30-year-old Guelph male has been charged with robbery, weapons dangerous, uttering threats, wearing a disguise and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on October 6, 2015.
High School students arrested
As a result of a joint drug initiative between the Guelph Police Service Youth & Crime Prevention Unit and the Drug Unit, three Guelph high school students were arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance in Bullfrog Pond Park on October 2, 2015 at 12:10 p.m. A small quantity of marihuana and drug paraphernalia was seized. The three males, two aged 17 and one 16 were dealt with under the Youth Criminal Justice Act with Extra Judicial Measures and school suspensions.
Theft from cars
On October 6, 2015 the Guelph Police received four reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Westwood Road, Bailey Avenue, Elizabeth Street and Walnut Drive.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
