Charles Thomas RUTLEDGE – Drunk Driving

(PETROLIA, ON) – On Friday October 30th, 2015 at approximately 7:52 p.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver traveling westbound on 402 Highway in the area of Forest Road, Town of Plympton-Wyoming.

While enroute, Lambton County OPP were advised that the suspect vehicle had now left the roadway and drove into the north ditch just east of Oil Heritage Road. Lambton OPP attended the location and located a single motor vehicle on 402 Highway westbound with significant damage to the passenger side. The lone occupant was located with the motor vehicle and advised that he was uninjured as a result of the collision. While speaking with the driver of the motor vehicle, investigating officers formed the opinion that the driver of the motor vehicle was impaired due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The male driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP – Petrolia Detachment for breath testing which resulted in readings above the legal limit.

As a result, 21 year-old, Charles Thomas RUTLEDGE of Sarnia, ON was charged with:

Driving While Ability Impaired

Driving With More Than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood

The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday November 23rd, 2015.

The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
