Call Police Immediately

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Wednesday May 22, 2013, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers in Mitchell were once again contacted by three residents reporting their unlocked vehicles had been entered overnight.

A vehicle parked on St. Andrew Street had a brief case containing banking information and mortgage papers removed, as well as a Tim Hortons card. A truck on Waterloo St had vehicle documentation taken.

At 3 a.m. a St. Andrew Street resident observed someone rooting through their vehicle which was parked in the driveway. The resident ran out and scared off the suspect. The resident contacted the police 9 hours later to provide details of the incident.

Within the past couple of days there have been 3 incidents of thefts or vehicle entries where residents scared off the suspects. In these cases, if the police had been called immediately when noises were heard or suspicious vehicles were observed, apprehension of the culprits may have been a possibility. The public is urged to call the OPP dispatch number 1-888-310-1122 or 911 when these incidences occur.

The public is requested to be observant for suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighbourhoods any time of the day but especially at night. If unsure about something suspicious you observe, call the police immediately.

Anyone with information about these vehicle entries is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
