Butane Honey Oil Extraction Leads To Explosion In London – One Seriously Injured – Infant Unharmed

On November 14th, 2016 the London Police Service, London Fire and EMS responded to a 911 call to an address on Hamilton Road for reports of an explosion.

Upon arrival an adult male was located suffering from serious burns to the front of his body. The male was subsequently transported to LHSC by EMS.

A female Adult and infant were also in the residence and were not injured.

It was determined that the explosion appeared to have occurred in the bathroom of the residence as a result of an attempt to produce cannabis resin via a butane extraction .

Members of the Guns and Drugs Section subsequently sought and obtained a CDSA search warrant for the address.

The following items were seized as a result:

– 762 grams of marihuana shake – Value $ 85

– 122 grams of marihuana bud – Value $1220

As a result of this investigation, Christopher SANDERS (27yrs) and Crystal YOUNG (25yrs) of London are charged jointly with the following offences:

– CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule II substance (Marihuana)

– CDSA 7(1) – Production of Schedule II substance (Resin)

– CC 441 – Occupant injuring building

– CC 436 – Arson by negligence

TOTAL DRUGS SEIZED: $ 1305

DAMAGE TO BUILDING: $10,000

SANDERS remains in LHSC in serious condition.

The public should be aware that this activity is very dangerous to not only yourself but everyone around you.
