Brett PROCTOR – Drunk Driving

(ESPANOLA, ON)- On August 10, 2016, members of the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) established a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) initiative on Jacklin Road, in the Township of Baldwin.

At approximately 3:32 pm, officers had occasion to check a vehicle occupied by a male who stopped at the R.I.D.E. program. Investigation revealed that the driver had been drinking.

The driver, Brett PROCTOR, 33 years of age from Espanola, was arrested and charged with:

Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

The accused driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven (7) days.

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on September 6, 2016, to answer to his charge.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
