On October 5 between midnight and 8am unknown persons entered an unlocked residence on Quarry Ave in Renfrew. Inside the home several sets of keys were stolen, as well as an iPhone and change. A vehicle in the driveway was entered as well. On the same date at approximately 9:50pm a male and female were discovered by the owner trying to steal a vehicle in the driveway. Police responded and arrested the pair. The investigation revealed the male had been given the keys by another male to take the car. When this male was located he gave false identification to police. Upon his arrest a quantity of crack cocaine was seized. As a result a 15-year-old male from Renfrew was charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, obstructing police, possession of stolen property, and possession of a schedule 1 drug for the purpose of trafficking. He was released on a youth promise to appear in court in Renfrew on November 25. Under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act he cannot be identified. Also charged was Jeffrey QUENNEVILLE 28 of Horton with trespassing at night, possession of stolen property, attempting to commit an indictable offence, and having open liquor in a public place. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on November 27. Provincial Constables Jason Cholette, Ryan Besner, and Hayley Chaplin investigated.
On Friday October 4 during the daytime a home on Fourth Ave in Renfrew was broken into. The thief removed a first floor screen and opened an unlocked window to gain entry. Once inside they stole two laptop computers, an Xbox 360 game console and 12 video games. The entry window was at the rear of the home which in near the Millennium Trail. Provincial Constable Ryan Besner is investigating.
An unoccupied home on Black Donald Rd in Greater Madawaska Township was entered sometime over the past month. The front door was forced open by the thief. An end table and antique typewriter were stolen. There are no suspects and Provincial Constable Darin Chaplin is investigating.
On October 4 homeowners on Renfrew Ave E in Renfrew returned home at 9:30pm and located a duffle bag with belongings gathered from their vehicle on a chair in their yard. Cigarettes were also missing from their unlocked garage. Believing one of their children had left the duffle bag outside they did not contact the police until they learned their children were not responsible. It is believed the homeowners scared off the thief when they returned home. Provincial Constable Philip Holmes is investigating.
