(GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP) – On Saturday May 14, 2016 at 6:06 p.m.an officer from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 400 South bound in Georgian Bay Township. The officer determined the speed to be 140 km/hr. in a 100 km/hr. zone.
Upon speaking to the male driver, the officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The officer made the demand for the roadside test which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested for over 80 mgs and transported to the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment for further tests. As a result of the tests the driver Brandon RAMLER (age 23) of Waubaushene, ON has been charged with:
Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Driver Fail to Properly Wear Seatbelt contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Use Plates not Authorized contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Drive Motor Vehicle Liquor Readily Available contrary to the Liquor Licence Act
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 2, 2016 in Midland, ON.
