(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –On September 1, 2015 the Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Street Response Team (SRT) entered into an investigation involving thefts from a quarry in Cramahe Township. A suspect was identified and further investigation lead to additional charges relating to thefts from a Cobourg lumber company. Both businesses were accessed when the accused was employed as a cleaner. He was arrested and released with an impending court date.
On September 15, 2015 the man was re-arrested and charged with multiple counts of theft (37) from an elderly Bowmanville resident that occurred between May and July this year. The senior lost in excess of $3,700 cash.
Brandon MUTTON age 23 of Cobourg is charged with the following offences:
1) Theft Under $5,000
2) Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
3) Theft Under $5,000
4) Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
5) Theft of Credit Card
6) Possession of (stolen) Credit Card
7) Theft Under $5,000 (37 counts)
MUTTON was held for a bail hearing scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on September 16, 2015.
