(SOUTH PORCUPINE) A local man has been charged with a speed related offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act stemming from an event recently captured on a social network website.
Ontario Provincial Police officers, working in conjunction with the Timmins Police Service were alerted to the posting of a video clip posted on a popular social networking website where a driver is travelling at unsafe rates of speed on Pine Street South, south of Timmins.
The posted video clip cleared shows the driver travelling at speeds well in excess of the posted speed limit while being filmed.
The driver was identified by means of collaborative investigation between the Ontario Provincial Police and the Timmins Police Service.
Bradley DUBOIS, 23, of Timmins, has been charged with speeding at a rate of 49 km/h in excess of the speed limit.
The South Porcupine OPP reminds all motorists that the obligations to be safe and responsible while behind the wheel rests squarely on the shoulders of the individual driver.
Those motorists who insist on driving at high rates of speed can rightfully expect a prompt and strict response from OPP officers who diligently patrol area roadways.
