Barrie Police Weekend Press Releases

Occurrence Type: Repeat Impaired Driver

Occurrence #: BA16000475

Date: Monday, January 4, 2016 – 3:35am

On Monday, January 4, 2015 at 3:35am Police were called to Rose Street, just east of St. Vincent Street in the City of Barrie, for a female passed out in a running vehicle. Police located the car running in the middle of the road and found a female passed out, slouched over the wheel. It took some time banging on the car window to stir the female awake and several more knocks to get the female to unlock the door of the car. The officer immediately turned off the vehicle and removed the keys due to the fact the female appeared to be very intoxicated. She admitted to Police she had been drinking and then attempted unsuccessfully to start her car and leave the scene with no keys in the ignition.

The 40 year old Barrie female was taken back to Barrie Police Service to provide further breath samples but refused to be cooperative with Police. She was charged with Impaired Care and Control as well as Refuse Breath Sample. Her vehicle was towed and held for seven days and her license was immediately suspended for 90 days. She was held for a bail hearing as she had been previously charged with Impaired Driving in 2011 and 2014.
